Over the last 3 months a number of improvements have been made to the Wonderland History website and the infrastructure running it.
1) New website.
A brand new Drupal 7 based website that allows easy creation of content and will last into the future.
Members can comment on any of the content & use the forums.
Advanced members can upload pictures and create site content.
2) Website speed increase.
Installed a PHP accelerator & optimizer called eAccelerator.
It increases the performance of PHP scripts by caching them in their compiled state, so that the overhead of compiling is almost completely eliminated. It also optimizes scripts to speed up their execution. eAccelerator reduces server load and increases the speed of the PHP code by 1-10 times.
Apache HTTP server performance tuning and optimization.
MySQL Database server performance tuning and optimization.
An extra 2GB of RAM was added to the server.
As always when undergoing a huge change there was problems....
Users using IE where sometimes getting strange results when trying to browse the site... same for older versions of Chrome and Firefox. These problems have been fixed and as far as i know there are no more strange bugs or problems. please send me an email if this website is not working for you! wonderland@wonderlandhistory.net
