On Wednesday 21st May, 1997, BP was the Operator at The Zodiac when he allowed the cycle to commence without visually checking his ride area was clear and secure. BP initiated the cycle with a gondaola door open and the gondola occupied and immediately pressed the cycle interupt button.
By his own admission BP did not follow the correct procedure as stated in The Zodiac Operational Manual, R3.46.24 stating “The ride cannot be started unless the all clear is given by the loaderâ€.
R9.46.1 stating “To ensure the ride area is clear and all gates secure before starting the cycleâ€
BP has been fully trained and passed all exams.
BP’s actions are in clear breach of the Secrets to Your Success, pg 43 - 44 titled “Unacceptable Behaviours and Actionsâ€, points
12) failure to be alert at all times.
13) refusal to perform your duties as required.
16) failure to abide by all policies, procedures and requirements of Australia’s Wonderland and/or individual Departments or Supervisors.

4) wilful violation of any safety regulation or guidelines.
BP has been counselled by BS and understands that any other breach can lead to termination.
