Wonderland Memories - Tell us yours!

Forums:

I first went to Wonderland with my parents in 1987. I was 7 and thought I was in heaven! Went on every ride I could except the Pirate Ship which I was too short to ride.

Me, my sister and my cousins got wonderpasses and we used to visit the park multiple time every school holidays. Our parents would let us off at the car park and we would get up to all sorts of fun. I truly believed we sat in every seat on every ride.

Rides that stood out for me:

The Bush Beast

The speed of the first drop, the sinking in your gut feeling, the shaking the rattles, the g forces in the turns and the whip lash braking at the end as you re-entered the station. Even as you walked up pathway to the Bush Beast, watching the ride shake and grown as a train rocketed around it all added to the experiance.

Snowy River Rampage

I used to love the Snowy River Rampage, the jets of water and waves that actually ensured you got wet. Unfortunately over the years the ride seemed to have tamed down and became just a leisure cruise and the long waits didn't seem worth it.

The Demon

Still my favourite rollercoaster ever in Australia. The spped of the drop, the noise as you screamed through the station, the boomerang which actually made you rely on your harness to stay in the coaster, the amount your head got bumped around and then you got to do it all again.... in reverse!!!! (excpet the one time it failed to catch the chain and got stuck!)

Space Probe

Loved the feeling of free falling, but what I loved most was not knowing when it would drop you. Remember I was the first person to ride these in a new year (as we were strapped in down the bottom waiting for the fireworks to finish). Also the corny video theme shown in the line helped build up the fear in new riders.

The Pirate Ship

The best thing about the pirate ship was that again, you totally relied on the harnesses to keep you on the ride. I loved the upside down hang time, watching people lose their loose change, hats and thongs. Also as a young teenager checking out the mermaids tits! (she was on the front of the boat). Also whilst in the line watching those tyres driven by the motor work over time. We also used to sit up tall in the pirate ship and push our legs against the harnesses so we were in their loose so we fell onto our harnesses as we went upside down. We also worked out that if you held the harnesses in place with your elbows when the operator tried to release them, you ended up getting that whole row locked in... and often you got to go again!!!

Wizards Fury

Was unreal. So so fast. Loved how many volts it consumed. Loved how you felt like your head would get chopped off as you entered the house!

The Beach

The high speed water slide was awesome! And probably the fastest I have ever been on. better than anything at Queenslands parks. Also the tube ride I remember as being fun.

I remember going to the Wild Life Park with school. First time I got to touch a Koala. What ended up happening to all these animals?

The Donuts were awesome! Best I've ever had.

I remember seeing a Pirates Show (next to the Bountys Revenge), some robotic dinosaurs exhibition and The Simspons stage show back when they first came out. Plus went to a few New Years eve parties there.

oh, our hats once got stolen after we left them at the bush beats station. They were really daggy hats with hankies sewn on the back to make them legioneres hats by our mums. Later in the day we saw a kid in a pram wearing one of our un-mistakable hats!

So many memories! I dont think I ever visited the park since I left high school in 1998 which was a shame. I now regret not going during its last days so my memories were fresher. Australia's Wonderland Forever!
